Apparently I Suck

| | Comments (3)

I just got the following (awesome?) email:

Thank you for taking the time to interview with Suzanne for the Ruby on Rails Junior Programmer position. Unfortunately, you have not been selected for further interviews as your experience is not an ideal match with the needs of the company at this time.

I wish you the best in your current and future endeavors!

The mind... She boggles.

If you get contacted by Hire Better Solutions... Run away. Run fast.

I talked to the hiring company's CEO on the phone. Hopefully I convinced him that they're not getting their money's worth with this company.

Actual Questions Asked During the Phone Interview:

  • Are you currently employed? (did you read my resume???)
  • How much are you currently being compensated? (and yet, my answer somehow didn't seem to register that I might not be fit for a junior developer)
  • What do most rails models subclass?
  • What's the difference between a colon word and quoted word and when would you use them?
  • How do you call a method in a helper module from a model? (I hope that was supposed to be a trap question)
  • (wrt REST) What are the four http commands? What do they relate to in rails? in the database?
  • What is the order of the rails callbacks? (may have been worded differently)
  • ...and so on...
